I first met David when he was headmaster at St. Julian's International School in Lisbon. His link to my family was through my wife Sue, who taught at Marple Ridge with David. I found him kind, welcoming, charismatic, always there to help anyone and his love of cricket. Whenever I visited Lisbon I was always made very welcome at David and Carolyn's home and encouraged to join in with whatever social event that happened to coincide with my visit.

Sue and I were able to repay this kindness when David and Carolyn visited Sue and I in St. Lucia and I will always remember David's face lighting up when we greeted them off the flight with tickets to see the West Indies Australia Test Match during their stay.
