Knowing David as a headmaster, he was the best. He had the knack of finding your strengths and giving you the opportunity to develop them. He was charismatic, a presence and so supportive of his staff and students.

I remember when my personal life was in turmoil and I went to talk to him. his response, 'Go home and come back when you are feeling better. Take as much time as you require'.

He knew every student by name, no mean feat when you consider that there were over a thousand in Marple Ridge High School.

He will be sadly missed.
